Texas yellowstar — Lindheimera texana — are easily cultivated and do well in garden plantings. This flower, along with hundreds of other Texas plant and animal species, was named for a German-born botanist, Ferdinand Jacob Lindheimer, recognized as the “father of Texas botany,” who settled in New Braunfels in 1844. The plant also is known as Lindheimer’s daisy or star daisy!
