Plants are sprouting up at the home and garden show!
If you enjoy cooking with fresh herbs, the annual South Texas Home, Garden, & Environmental Show is the place to be. The Guadalupe County Master Gardeners will be on hand with over 70 varieties of vegetables, including 20 herbs.
They will also have an assortment of bedding plants, flowers, and hanging baskets. This will be in addition to the approximately 72 vendors that will fill the Floresville Event Center on Saturday, March 2, from 9-6. Admission is free.
Among activities scheduled are Do-It-Yourself workshops and lectures in addition to free children's activities. Some of the hands-on activities and learning opportunities will include microgreens, backyard composting, vermiculture (growing earth worms), container gardening, and transplanting tomatoes.
Visitors will receive free plants while supplies last. An array of vendors showing handmade, homegrown, and natural items will offer their wares and expertise. The Wilson County Library will host children in building 3-D robot statues as well as building with 3-D Legos. Seating will be limited on the 3-D workshops, so come early. Let the kids enjoy the activities while mom and dad shop.
Concessions will be available.
There will be a silent auction to raise funds for classroom gardening projects. Sponsors of the event include the Guadalupe County Master Gardeners, San Antonio River Authority, Evergreen Underground Water Conservation District, and the Wilson County News.
